PAVAC’s LASTRON electron beam source is protected by US Patent No. 6,781,300B1 – Laser Based Electron Beam Gun. A method of an indirectly heated cathode, a gate electrode and anode, for generating electron beams of various shapes and power. Cathodes can be used with various geometric designs.

Massive cathodes can be applied resulting in a longer service life compared with a band cathode. Another advantage is that the service life of the cathode is identical to the service life of the laser.
