Pulsed Electron Beam Physical Vapor Deposition (PED-PVD or Digital Coating) creates complex material compositions on substrates or parts using pulsed electrons.
The LASTRON PEB-PVD systems evaporate targets, usually elements such as metals and ceramics forming a “mixed” cloud that solidifies on a substrate or part as a new material composition.
PAVAC’s technology is unique in that it operates with either pulse-width modulation or frequency modulation giving full control over the deposition rate and coating structure.

Results have shown that, by spinning the targets at a specific speed, the coating has a very homogenous element distribution.
The PVD software allows programming the composition of elements required for a desired coating.
The system is fully programmable allowing to define the evaporation rate of elements by modification of the beam parameters. The system can be used to develop nanometer structures. The coating system has the capability to create graded compositions while coating.
